I am directed by Mr. Secretary McKerma te say,

for the information of Mr. Secretary Harcourt, that he has received from the Foreign Office a copy of the latter addressed by that Department to the Colonial Office on the 2nd instant in the case of a female prisoner named Monteith new in prison at Hong Kong. Mr. McKenna has informed Mr. Barcourt that he will have ne objection to offer to the removal of Menteith to the United Kingdom, and to the cost of her maintenance in prison in this country until the expiration of her sentence falling on the Prisons Vete (England and Wales) if the sanction of the Lærda Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury is obtained ky Colonial Office for incurring the expense involved.

Mr. McKenna will be glad to be furnished with further particulars in the cane as man as possible.
